Yureicon Cosplay-competition 2026
General rules
- The costume must be 80% made by the competitor themselves. A small amount of help from friends and family is allowed.
- The costume must not have been placed in any previous competitions.
- Bought or commissioned costumes are forbidden. You are obligated to inform the judges of any possible bought pieces or modified pieces.
- The character must be from a licensed source and there must be at least one reference photo available.
- Reference photos are to be provided either in the application form. If there are issues with attaching photos to the form please email them to cosplay@yureicon.fi
- The maximum number of reference photos is five (5) images. The files must be jpg. png. or pdf.
- Participating in the competitions obligates the competitors to participate in prejudging, a photoshoot and stage presentation. The timings of which will be announced at a later time.
Please note! Each category has a maximum of eight (8) contestants. The competitor slots for each category are filled in order of registration.
Tickets are reserved for contestants in the hobbyist and experienced category. This will guarantee your admission to the event. The ticket price does not differ from the normal price.
Competition & Rules
Hall Cosplay
The contestants for the Hall Cosplay Competition are chosen from amongst con goes at the event. This competition does not have pre-registration. Our cosplay ghosts will move around the event area looking for costumes that would fit the competition on Saturday between
11 am to 1 pm. The cosplay judging is held the same day.
Hobbyists
The hobbyist category is for those who have little to none experience in competing in cosplay competitions and have no qualifications in craftsmanship such as dressmaking. The cosplay judging is held on the day of the competition.
Applications to the competitions are to be made in advance from the 4.5.2026 to 2.8.2026. If the competition is filled, the application form will be closed with a separate announcement. Possible spot vacancies due to cancellations will be announced separately.
The hobbyist category is for you if:
– You have been making cosplay costumes for less than five years
– You do not have any craftsmanship related qualifications
– You have no previous wins or placements in competitions
Experienced
The experienced category is for those who have multiple years of experiences in making cosplay costumes or have some sort of qualification in craftsmanship such as dress making. Previous experience in competing is not required. The cosplay judging is held on the day of the competition.
Applications to the competitions are to be made in advance from the 4.5.2026 to 2.8.2026. If the competition is filled, the application form will be closed with a separate announcement. Possible spot vacancies due to cancellations will be announced separately.
The experienced category is for you if:
– You have been making cosplay costumes yourself for at least five years
– You have a degree or other type of qualification in craftmanship
– You have placed in previous cosplay competitions
Proprules
Props
- If you are capable of inflicting serious harm with your prop, it is not suitable for the event.
- You must take others into account when moving with any type of props.
- Sharpened props, sharp objects, blunt metal weapons and deactivated firearms are forbidden in Yureicon.
- Airsoft-guns are allowed if they are clearly a part of the carrier’s costume. The weapons must not have gas, a battery or any other power source at the event. The weapon and possible magazines must be emptied of all projectiles.
- Carrying imitation weapon props outside of the event area is recommended to be done out of the view of bystanders. This is to avoid causing fear or threat to the people outside of the event.
- All imitation weapon props must be taken for inspection by security when entering the event. Any markings left by security are not allowed to be removed in the event area.

Judge application
The cosplay judge application form is open from 12.4.2026 to 31.5.2026. The cosplay judges are entitled to a badge, which grants access to the event and the greenroom for the entire weekend.
The cosplay competition categories in Yureicon are:
– Experienced Costume Competition
– Hobbyist Costume Competition
– Hall Cosplay Competition
You can apply to all the categories with one application form. If you choose to apply to all the categories, our cosplay team will choose and direct you to a suitable role based on your application.
As a cosplay judge you are obligated to be of legal age, impartiality and have the ability to evaluate all the competitors equally. You are also obligated to follow the provided schedules and to read the rules of the competition. Before the competition you will need to write an introduction of yourself as a cosplay judge and provide some sort of photo of yourself for the introduction. After the competitions you are obligated to give feedback to those competitors who request it.
